Our Team
Craig Nichols, MD Testicular Cancer Commons founder Dr. Nichols received his medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland, Oregon; completed his residency at Alton Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana; and completed his hematology and oncology fellowship in Indianapolis at Indiana University — one of the world’s foremost centers for care and research in testicular cancer — where he trained and joined the faculty, achieving the rank of Professor of Medicine. Dr. Nichols then served at OHSU as professor, the DeArmond Chair of Clinical Cancer Research, head of the Hematology and Medical Oncology Division, and associate director of the Cancer Institute. Dr. Nichols successfully treated Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong for testicular cancer in the late 1990′s and is a founding member of the board of directors for LIVESTRONG Foundation. He has also served on the Board of Trustees for the Oregon Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. He now practices and works as Co-Director of the Testicular Cancer Program at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle and serves as Visiting Professor at the British Columbia Cancer Agency. Dr. Nichols is an active researcher, with over 200 scholarly articles on testicular cancer and has led efforts to define care for early stage disease, high risk patients, and improving the quality of life for survivors.
